“The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin.”

I’m sympathetic towards those who have means but feel badly for “having nice things,” lest it draw too much attention to themselves or feel “unchristian.”
But I’m getting to the point where I wonder if hoarding money (saving it all up) is perhaps a greaterr grievance to God.
The distinction of spending money to enhance the lives of those around us, vs spending on sinful things is helpful.
A couple years ago Jules and I spent a sizable chunk of money in landscaping around our home. These beautiful spaces have provided an inviting backdrop to so many rich moments with countless friends and family since then. Honestly, it has enhanced our day to day living, and has made our home even more of a destination for our neighbors and friends. Money well spent.
I rather admire those who spend well what they’ve earned here on earth before departing. You can’t take any of it with you.
