Showit Sites

picture-1

For all you photogs out there…

You may or may not have heard that Showit Sites released a FREE version of their website publishing platform about a month ago. Just today I downloaded the free version. It has certain limitations over the pro version but it’s the actual deal, so you get to truly try it before you buy it. After looking through it a bit, I can certainly say that I’m entertaining a switch for a few reasons:
1) It’s completely customizable, so you’re not locked into templates. In fact, you can change your site easily every day if you want to.  Interestingly enough, there’s actually a slew of developers who are starting web design companies solely for the Showit platform.  Pretty darn cool if you ask me.
2) As ones business grows, often times he/she needs more breadth to their site. To see what I mean, check out Dane Sanders website or David Jay’s, both of which use Showit Sites. Of course, David Jay is the man behind it all.  I had the great opp to meet DJ last January…he’s the real deal folks.
3) It’s being updated all the time, and the new features are FREE and instantaneous.

Of course, a big part of me knows that websites are going towards the wayside anyways. It makes a ton of sense to me to have a blog-site … kind of a hybrid of sorts, such as Jessica Claire’s.  I sometimes wonder if the blog is going to live as we know it.  I think it will for some purposes, but social media like facebook and twitter are having a dramatic impact as to where conversations ‘happen.’

What say you guys?
